Arvada, a city that values strong and engaged communities, is at the heart of its success through the Arvada Neighbors Connected program. This city-run initiative empowers residents by providing resources, networking opportunities, and direct access to city staff to foster neighborhood growth and resilience. Whether through neighborhood grants, block party support, or leadership development, the program equips Arvadans to actively shape their communities.
One of the program’s key components is its monthly meetings, where neighborhood leaders and community members can engage with city officials on matters of importance. These gatherings serve as an open forum for discussing neighborhood concerns, sharing ideas, and collaborating on solutions that benefit the broader community.
On March 5, members of the Arvada Voices group attended a meeting facilitated by Neighborhood Engagement Coordinator Brady Porterfield-Finn in collaboration with the Jefferson County Department of Public Health. The discussions centered around critical topics such as mental health, climate change, and economic growth, all of which directly impact Arvada’s residents.
This meeting presented an excellent opportunity for Arvada Voices to engage with both the city and county, strengthening our role as neighborhood leaders. We strongly encourage every neighborhood to elect a representative to attend these meetings. An engaged and informed community ensures that local voices are heard and that Arvada continues to grow in a manner that reflects the needs and values of its residents.
Arvada Neighbors Connected, a community hub, fosters discussions and provides valuable services to support local residents. One such initiative is the Snow Buddies Program, a volunteer-driven effort that pairs those in need, such as seniors or individuals with disabilities, with neighbors willing to shovel snow during winter. This program ensures safe navigation for those requiring assistance and strengthens community bonds by encouraging neighbors to look out for one another.
Another key service is the Neighborhood Grant Program, which offers funding for community-driven projects, ranging from beautification and sustainability initiatives to block parties and safety improvements. These grants empower neighborhoods to take ownership of their public spaces, creating vibrant and welcoming environments for all residents.
