Significant Incidents


Homeless individual arrested for theft and resisting Arrest at Lowe’s AR25000284

On January 6, 2025, at approximately 10:38 am, officers responded to a theft incident involving an individual at Lowe's on Wadsworth Blvd. The suspect was a homeless individual known to officers from numerous calls for service around Olde Town. When approached by officers, the suspect became non-compliant and resisted arrest. Additional officers arrived to assist, and a taser was deployed to gain control. The suspect was taken into custody, treated for minor injuries, and charged with burglary, resisting arrest, obstruction, and theft. The officers sustained minor cuts and bruises.


Outdoor death investigation AR25000347

On January 7, 2025, at approximately 2:31 pm, a passerby discovered a man lying motionless in the snow near 7820 W 54th Ave and called 911. Emergency personnel arrived and determined the individual was deceased. He had been part of a snow removal crew working in the area and was last seen by coworkers around 2:15 pm. CSI documented the scene, and the coroner will determine the cause of death.


Impaired driver stopped going wrong way on Wadsworth Blvd AR2500415 

On January 8, 2025, at approximately 5:57 pm, officers responded to a REDDI (Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately) call near W 80th Ave and Vance Dr. Reports described a silver SUV driving erratically, crashing into rails, and traveling very slowly. The vehicle was located traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Wadsworth Blvd. Officers stopped the driver, who appeared disoriented, slurring speech, displaying unsteady movements, and unable to recall basic information such as time or location.

The driver admitted to taking prescription medications with warnings against operating vehicles. Paramedics were called, and the individual was transported to a hospital and issued a summons for driving under the influence and other violations.


Mercury spill in driveway leads to emergency response and citation AR25000558

On January 11, 2025, at approximately 11:48 am, emergency personnel responded to a residence near the 10700 block of W 62nd Ave after a homeowner reported finding a small amount of mercury in their driveway. Upon arrival, they encountered an individual attempting to clean up the mercury. The individual resisted instructions from responders and obstructed cleanup and decontamination efforts. 

Arvada PD officers were called to assist, and the individual continued to ignore lawful orders, resulting in their detention. Officers ensured there was no mercury contamination following physical contact. The individual refused personal decontamination and was cited for obstruction of police and fire personnel.


Stolen Jeep tracked, two suspects apprehended without incident AR25000557 

On January 11, 2025, at approximately 12:23 pm, officers responded to the area of 6310 W 63rd Ave regarding a stolen 2010 white Jeep Grand Cherokee being tracked by its owner. The driver of the stolen vehicle fled eastbound from Allendale Park, and officers disengaged. The Jeep was later located parked in a cul-de-sac near 10472 W 63rd Ave and was associated with a GMC Yukon in the area.

With assistance from a drone unit and a K9 team, officers prepared to contact the Jeep. The Yukon, occupied by individuals connected to the suspects, approached officers nearby, leading to a high-risk stop. Two suspects were detained without incident. One suspect was charged with third-degree motor vehicle theft, while the other was cited for vehicle trespass.


Intoxicated intruder arrested after breaking into home AR25000584 

On January 11, 2025, at approximately 11:58 pm, officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a residence on the 5600 block of Carr St. The homeowner reported that an intruder had broken into the home and he was detaining the suspect. The suspect, who appeared intoxicated, had kicked in the front door and sat on the couch despite having no connection to the residents. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jefferson County Jail on burglary charges. No injuries were reported during the incident.
