Significant Incidents


Fire and Explosion at Transient Camp


On February 2 at 8:18 am, Arvada Police and Fire responded to a fire and explosion behind 7800 Grandview Avenue. A transient camp in the alleyway was found actively burning. Fire personnel quickly extinguished the flames. While no injuries were reported, a residential fence was destroyed. The investigation is ongoing (Case AR25001837).


SWAT Team Assists in Narcotics and Weapons Search Warrant


On January 31 at 8:00 am, the Jefferson County Regional SWAT team assisted the West Metro Drug Taskforce in executing a search warrant for narcotics and weapons at a residence located at 6364 Gray St. Residents, along with four dogs and a cat, were removed from the home. The animals were later taken to Foothills Animal Shelter. Two females were arrested on outstanding warrants. A Lookout Alert was issued for a four-block radius, and CRIT officers assisted with a secure status for Little Seeds Academy.


Armed Robbery at Gas Station


On February 1 at 1:35 am, officers responded to a reported robbery at a gas station on the 7900 block of Sheridan Blvd. A store employee stated that a white male, approximately 18 years old, wearing black gloves, a black facemask, and a black hoodie, pointed a gun at her and demanded cash. The first register was empty, and the second contained only a few dollars. The suspect fled south on a bicycle. Stolen Vehicle Recovered; Suspect Arrested


On February 1 at 1:25 pm, officers received a Flock camera alert about a stolen vehicle near the 5200 block of Wadsworth Blvd. Officers located the vehicle, occupied by an adult male, in the Home Depot parking lot. To ensure safety, W 52nd Ave was temporarily closed for five minutes while officers conducted a high-risk stop. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. Two dogs and two cats were removed from the vehicle and impounded. The suspect was jailed on motor vehicle theft charges and outstanding warrants (Case AR25001787).


Speed Study: 7800 Quail St


From January 10 to January 22, the Arvada Police Department Traffic Unit studied vehicle speeds at 7800 Quail St, a two-way, undivided street in a residential area, with a posted speed limit of 25 mph. The data collected did not indicate significant speed issues:

  • Total vehicles recorded: 9,093

  • Average speed: 25.2 mph

  • 85th percentile speed: 30 mph

Community Outreach Resources Enforcement (CORE)

The CORE team focuses on issues in the community related to homelessness. They respond to calls involving homeless people, proactively offer resources, and conduct enforcement when other support methods are not effective.
