Significant Incidents

Man with Warrants Flees on Foot, Escapes 


On April 7 at 12:52 a.m., officers responded to a report of a protection order violation near 16400 W 85th Ave.  The male suspect, identified as Malik Adams-Brown (27) was found to have two outstanding arrest warrants, including a no-bond domestic violence warrant. Malik fled the area before officers arrived but was later located in a rideshare vehicle. He fled again on foot and evaded arrest. A perimeter was established and officers searched the area, but Malik was not located. (AR25005770)


Felony Arrest, Child Abuse Investigation at Arvada Residence


On April 7 at 1:25 p.m., officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle found at a residence on Jellison Street. The vehicle was recovered and two individuals were taken into custody: one who had a felony no-bond warrant, and another, who was living in hazardous conditions with a four-month-old infant. Drug paraphernalia was observed in plain sight, and the infant later tested positive for fentanyl exposure. The case is under further investigation. (AR25005797)


Disturbance at Apartment Leads to Arrest for Property Damage


On April 8 at 2:49 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance at Arvada Green Apartments involving two intoxicated residents. One woman damaged property inside and outside the residence, including breaking a windshield, while a young child was present. She was taken to the hospital for injuries and later booked into jail. Child Protective Services was notified. (AR25005868)


Two Injured in Traffic Collision on Ward Road


On April 8 at 8:29 p.m., officers responded to a serious crash at W. 54th Drive and Ward Road. Two occupants were trapped and required extrication by Arvada Fire. One driver was cited for careless driving involving injury. All involved were transported to a hospital with injuries. (AR25005880)



Officer Injured During Foot Pursuit of Trespassing Suspect


On April 10 at 6:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of a man attempting to force entry into an apartment on W. 59th Place. The suspect fled on foot and was later apprehended. An officer sustained a broken nose during the chase. The suspect was found with narcotics and arrested. (AR25006016)


Suspect Bites Officer During Arrest at Care Facility


On April 10 at 8:50 p.m., officers attempted to arrest a warrant subject, following a disturbance at a local assisted living facility. During the arrest, the suspect resisted, spit on one officer, and bit another, causing injury. He was taken into custody and jailed on multiple charges. (AR25006019)


Suspicious Person Leads to Violent Struggle, Arrest


On April 11 at 12:30 p.m., officers contacted a suspicious individual near Walgreens at 6603 Wadsworth Boulevard. Officers contacted the person and observed drug paraphernalia in plain view. When officers attempted to arrest the suspect, he became combative, punching an officer and attempted to grab his firearm. Officers gained control of the suspect and took him into custody. Both officers sustained injuries and the suspect was booked into jail. (AR25006051)


Negligent Discharge of Firearm Inside Apartment


On April 13 at 5:58 p.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired at an apartment on W. 84th Way. The resident admitted to accidentally discharging his .44 Magnum while attempting to inspect the firearm. No injuries were reported. He was issued a summons for a weapons violation. (AR25006193)

The National Drug Take Back Day event will be held on Saturday, April 26th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at two locations in Arvada. Bring us your old and unneeded prescription medications for safe disposal:

  • King Soopers at 14967 Candelas Pkwy 


Speed Study: 7300 W 72nd Avenue


From March 19 to April 2, 2025, the Arvada Police Department Traffic Unit studied vehicle speeds at 7300 W 72nd Ave, a two-way, divided street, with a posted speed limit of 40 mph. The data recorded a few instances of higher speeds during afternoon hours, warranting additional officer speed enforcement efforts:

  • Total vehicles recorded: 115,215

  • Average speed: 38.5 mph

  • 85th percentile speed: 43 mph

Special Unit Activity

Community Outreach Resources Enforcement (CORE)

The CORE team focuses on issues in the community related to homelessness. They respond to calls involving homeless people, proactively offer resources, and conduct enforcement when other support methods are not effective.
